The Colorado Northwestern Community College is seeking qualified firms for design services for two projects located on the Rangely Colorado campus. The first project requires the selected firm to design an upgraded electrical distribution system in the Johnson Building (22,140 SF). The existing main electrical services, and the majority of the electrical distribution equipment is original to the 1960 construction and consists of 800A, 277/480V Square D Main Switchboard with fusible switches. The main electrical services then feeds to the building mechanical and plumbing equipment with a sub-distribution board, 277/480V, 3 phase panel board that distributes power to receptacles, HVAC, and cafeteria equipment. Additionally, the selected firm will be required to spec and design the integration of a backup power generator to serve as emergency power for the Johnson Building and the McLaughlin server room. The selected firm will be required to evaluate the needs, best methods, and code requirements to perform the electrical upgrades. The successful design team will be required to design the electrical distribution system to a Fixed Limit Cost of Construction of $1.2 million. The second project requires the selected firm to assess existing exterior lighting providing a design to phase out all metal halide and mercury vapor bulbs. CNCC intent is to utilize existing light poles with upgraded lighting technology, to add additional poles for outdoor lighting. The successful design team will be required to design the LED lighting upgrades to a Fixed Limit Cost of Construction of $80,000 CNCC anticipates using Design/Bid/Build for both projects.
