Site work for a bridge / tunnel in S Royalton, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.

The Town of Royalton (hereinafter the "Town") is requesting sealed bid proposals from contractors for the rehabilitation of Bridge #31, a historic truss bridge located within Royalton Village. The contractor will be responsible for extensive cleaning and repainting of the structure, replacement of missing lattice segments, as well as housing reconstruction and trough cleaning at the expansion joint near the south abutment. Vtrans bridge inspection reports (attachment A) and photos (Attachment B) aid in detailing the scope of work. The Town of Royalton has procured a VTrans Structures grant to partially fund this project. All work must be completed by December 31, 2023 time being of the essence. As the structure is considered historic, care must be taken to comply with all Vtrans standards relating to historic structures. Approval for the project has been obtained on the basis that it is a restoration / rehabilitation of the existing structure without any significant changes. Contractors are responsible for ensuring that all of the necessary permits and permissions are obtained. This is a lump sum bid project. The Town has a fixed budget allocation for the construction of this project. There will be no requests made to the Town for extra compensation. Mobilization and demobilization costs shall be included within the Lump Sum Bid. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids, if such action is deemed in the public's best interest. The Town also retains the right to negotiate the price and the extent of the job prior to awarding to final contract. Bidders Questions and clarifications of bid specifications shall be directed to Town Administrator Victoria Paquin at townadmin@royaltonvt.com The deadline for questions from bidders is 5PM October 25, 2022. The final bid addendum, if any, will be issued by Noon on Friday, October 28th 2022 All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Bond payable to the Town of Royalton.The Bid Bond must be enclosed in the same envelope as the Bid Response Form. The amount of the Bid Bond shall be five percent (5%) of the Lump Sum Bid. The Chosen Contractor will be required to furnish both a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond each in the amount of 100% of contract price.
