Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a stadium in Thames Centre, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a 7,500-square-foot, one-story above grade stadium; for the demolition of a stadium; for the renovation of a stadium; and for site work for a stadium.
Thames Centre is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide design and construction services for the renovation and expansion of the FlightExec Centre, located at 2066 Dorchester Road, Dorchester, Ontario. The core project will involve increasing and optimizing the square footage for 3 existing parts of this facility - the Senior Centre, the V.O.N. and the auditorium. The Senior Centre will have larger spaces and additional rooms, expanding from the current 3,402 square feet to approximately 9,200 square feet. The V.O.N. space will approximately double from the current size of approximately 3,000 square feet. The auditorium will expand from 4,321 to approximately 6,000 square feet. This "expansion" project will not only be an addition to the existing facility, but also involve renovations to existing space. In addition, this project has the potential to include other aspects, which we refer to as "provisional items". Firstly, this project could include the inclusion of a gymnasium (approximately 7,000 square feet), to be priced in two ways - as a stand-alone gym and/or as a gym incorporated into the auditorium portion of this project. Secondly, this project could include moving the current Municipal Office (located at 4305 Hamilton Road) into new office space at the FlightExec Centre (approx. 8,500 square feet). The final provisional item will be consideration of upgrades to the project which provide green initiatives. The intention of this project is to award the design-build contract upon completion of the 2023 budget process in January 2023, thus allowing the successful bidder to break ground right away, in January, with project completion by September 2023.
