A. The work includes construction of approximately 60,701 lineal feet of lined canal and structures and will be completed as described below.
B. The existing Florence Canal Reach 2 includes approximately 11.5 miles of an existing earthen canal with flow control structures and equipment, turnout structures and pipes, road crossings, wells, utilities, and other features. The scope of work for the canal includes, but is not limited to, coordination with the Owner; coordination with the San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP); with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), Pinal County Public Works, the City of Coolidge Public Works Department, and the Town of Florence Public Works Department; coordination with utilities and other entities; performing phased canal construction by bypassing water to work in local dry ups and by performing in water canal construction during six 5 Week dry-ups in fall/winter seasons in 2022/2023 (two 5 week dry ups per season); maintaining irrigation deliveries; irrigation water supply during construction; environmental protection and archeological preservation;; embankment construction; soil blending; hand placed concrete lining with fibrous reinforcing. Earthwork includes, but is not limited to, survey; embankment; soil blending; trimming the canal prism with track hoes, Gradalls or other equipment; and on-site material management and disposal. Also included are traffic control, safety cable, safety ladders , and other appurtenances.
