The intent and purpose of this RFP is to establish a contract through competitive negotiation for Curbside Collection of Solid Waste and Recycling (hereafter referred to as the Services*) for customers in the Town of Christiansburg, Virginia. To deliver hard-copy proposals to the Town, the proposers will insert the proposals in sealed envelopes marked and addressed to Mark Hamric, Purchasing Coordinator. All proposers are responsible for ensuring proposals were received by the Town. No other delivery or distributions of proposals will be required of proposers. Most customers are residential; all customers, with the exception of the Town, utilizes solid waste carts. The Town also provides solid waste collection to ten (10) Town-owned facilities utilizing 4, 6 and 8-yard dumpsters and forty (40) Town-owned 48- or 96-gallon wheeled carts. Curbside recycling collection currently is provided by a contractor to customers and ten (10) Town-owned facilities via the use of contractor-owned 65-gallon wheeled recycling carts. This contract expires on June 30, 2023. The Town's Waste and Water Committee met at 5 p.m. on October 11, 2022 at Town Hall to discuss this RFP and related matters.
