The general scope of Work includes, but is not limited to; the replacement of an existing diesel generator used to feed the emergency life safety system for the building. The project revises the electrical distribution system such that the new generator will feed the entire building. The Owner's intent is to hold a contract with a single Electrical Contractor. Bids shall be on a stipulated sum basis; segregated bids will not be accepted. Bidders are requested to propose dates for project mobilization and project completion on their bid. A certified check drawn upon a solvent bank or bid bond executed by corporations authorized to contract as surety in Iowa, and submitted on AIA Document A310 - Bid Bond, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid and made payable to "JASPER COUNTY", shall be filed with each bidder's proposal as a guarantee that the accepted bidder shall enter into a contract with the Jasper County and file an approved surety company Performance and Payment Bond for the faithful performance thereof. Upon failure to comply, said check or bid bond shall become forfeited as liquidated damages. Under Chapter 91C of the Iowa Code (1989), any construction contractor performing work in Iowa (including out-of-state contractors) is required to be registered with the Iowa Department of Employment Services Division of Labor. All proposals shall be filed on forms furnished, sealed, and plainly marked as described in the Instructions to Bidders.
