612878-120571 All work under this Contract shall be done in conformance with the 2022 Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges, the Supplemental Specifications contained in this book, the 2017 Construction Standard Details, the Traffic Management Plans and Detail Drawings, MassDOT Work Zone Safety Temporary Traffic Control, the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 2015 Overhead Signal Structure and Foundation Standard Drawings, the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments; the 1968 Standard Drawings for Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting; The American Standard for Nursery Stock; the Plans and these Special Provisions. The work to be done under this contract will include deck repairs, installation of the new overlay (wearing surface), milling and paving approaches, substructure repairs and cleaning (full removal) and painting of all existing structural steel in the superstructure, as well as all the bearings. The work will include the application of an elastomeric protective coating to concrete surfaces at the piers after areas of deterioration (delamination and spalling). The work will include miscellaneous structural steel repairs and in-kind diaphram/utility support replacement, removal of concrete haunches and installation of expandable metal shielding over the roadway. The Contractors attention is directed towards the Repair Procedure Notes and Details contained in Document A00803. All proposed work hours shall conform to Subsection 7.09 and be subject to the written approval of the Engineer. Work schedules deviating from the normal work schedule will be subject to approval by the Engineer. Work will be restricted to non-peak hours or night work as directed by the Engineer to avoid peak traffic volumes and to maintain safety and productivity.
