The Town of Shelburne will accept sealed bids on behalf of itself and the Town of Colrain, from MA licensed asbestos abatement contractors to conduct work in accordance with Plans created by their consultant, Atlas Technical Consultants (ATC) as well as work to demolish structures and removal of oil tanks. The properties are located at 375 and 379 Main Street in Shelburne and 102 Main Road in Colrain. 379 Main Street Shelburne and 102 Main Road Colrain are vacant 2-story wood single family structures. These buildings are structurally compromised and unsafe to perform inspections. Therefore, the intent is to demolish the buildings and dispose of the buildings' debris as asbestos-containing waste material (ACWM) according to the approved NTWPs (non traditional work plans) for each Site. The remaining buildings (379 shed, 379 barn, and 375 house) were accessed and inspected, the intent is to demolish these buildings and dispose of the buildings debris at an approved disposal facility. There are detailed quantities of asbestos and/or Other Hazardous Materials (OHM)s (detailed in the asbestos and OHM specifications) that will require handling/abatement at these buildings prior to demolition. ATC will provide construction administration services and the Town will coordinate disconnection of water lines, sewer and electrical before work commences. For Shelburne Property: Once the debris is removed, the contractor will have all the foundations removed and disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations. The rear retaining walls shall remain intact and in place. For Colrain Property: The contractor shall crack up and push in any basement slab and foundation materials and then backfill, and grade the area. The large pine tree in the front will also be removed to grade. It is expected that MA licensed asbestos abatement contractor will engage a subcontractor for part of the demolition work. All power lines at both sites shall be shielded/protected from the site work and any potential damage.
