Renovation and addition to a municipal facility in Courtenay, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the addition of a 7,128-square-foot, two-story above grade municipal facility; and for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The project scope includes the new construction of a new 660 m2 two-storey addition to the existing single-storey office building. The existing building will not be occupied throughout the new construction program. The current project schedule has construction activities starting in the Spring of 2023 and completing approximately a year later (Spring 2024). The renovation and addition must be ready to accept occupants for move in during the Summer 2024. The single-storey existing office building is approx. 750m2 and was constructed in 1995. The existing building will be completely renovated to suit the School District's program requirements. Renovations include architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical upgrades. A new two-storey addition is designed at the southwest corner of the site with approx. 330m2 per floor (660m2 total new area). The new addition will be steel construction to match the existing building. Site development will include new utility connections for water, sanitary, storm, and electrical. Site work will also include on-site parking reconfiguration at the Idiens Way frontage.
