Work is to include all labor, equipment, and materials to replace the existing septic system for a public bathroom facility located on federal property at the Cape Cod Canal Project in Sandwich, MA. Work includes excavation and removal of the existing septic system that includes a septic tank, cast iron piping, distribution box, leach field with perforated pipe in trenches, and proper handling and disposal of approximately 725 cubic yards of leach field remediation waste (contaminated crush stone/soil). The replacement septic system shall match the dimensions and elevations of the existing system and be installed within the same footprint. The new septic system shall include a 2,500-gallon precast concrete dual compartment septic tank, 4" PVC piping, concrete distribution box, leaching chambers, new leach field stone/sand, and other related items (to include, but not limited to repairing disturbed lawn, pavement, and curb areas back to original condition). There are Government maintained portable toilets located at the site that can be utilized by the contractor during field work. The public roads and parking areas are heavily used by the public. Work includes fencing, signage, barricades, and traffic control devices necessary to protect the general public from hazards within the work area.
