The Trustees of Drainage Districts 10 and 12 of Iowa County, Iowa, will receive sealed bids for the construction of the 2022 Proposed StormWaterPumpingStation Pond Clean-Out, Drainage Districts 10 and 12, Iowa County, Iowa. The extent of the work involved in this Project consists of the excavation and stockpiling of approximately 19,080 cubic yards of sediment and soil from the Iowa County Drainage Districts storm water pumping station storm water storage pond and such work as may be appurtenant thereto, all in the SE 1/4 of Section 30-T81N-R10W and the SW 1/4 of Section 29-T81N-R10W Marengo, Iowa County, Iowa and as further described in the Contract Documents The work under the proposed Contract shall be commenced within ten (10) calendar days after the issuance of "Notice to Proceed". All work shall be substantially completed, except finish seeding, by February 15, 2023 and shall be entirely completed by May 15, 2023. Prior to initiation of any construction, a schedule of work shall be submitted to Drainage Districts 10 and 12 for approval All bids shall be accompanied in a separate envelope by a certified or cashier's check drawn on an Iowa bank, bid bond, payable to Drainage Districts 10 and 12, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States in the sum of not less than 5% of the bid submitted, which certified check, certified share draft or bid bond will be held as security that the Bidder will enter into a Contract for the construction of the work and will furnish the required bonds, and in case the successful Bidder shall fail or refuse to enter into the Contract and furnish the required bonds, his bid security may be retained by said Drainage Districts 10 and 12. All bids shall be made on the blank form furnished by Drainage Districts 10 and 12, and each Bidder will be required to state his prices for doing the work on which he bids. Bids may be held by the Trustees of Drainage Districts 10 and 12 of Iowa County, Iowa, for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days from the day of the opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract. No bid shall be withdrawn during the above period of time without consent of Drainage District 10 and 12. Attention is called to the fact that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, religion, sex or national origin. Award of the contract will be made to that responsible bidder whose Total Project Bid, conforming to the Specifications, is most advantageous to Drainage District 10 and 12, price, ability to meet completion date, and other factors considered. The intention is to award the contract at the time of opening of bids, or at such later time and place as may be fixed, not exceeding thirty (30) days. The bidder shall submit bids on all the items listed and shall state the unit bid price and total bid price in the blank spaces provided next to the item description. Proposals requiring mathematical computations to determine unit prices or totals may be rejected. Drainage Districts 10 and 12 reserve the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. The Contractor shall give good and sufficient bond, in the amount of 100% of the Contract, on the form to be furnished by Drainage Districts 10 and 12, obligating the Contractor and his bondsman to the faithful performance of the Contract, and to punctually pay all laborers employed on said work and all persons furnishing materials therefore, and to carry compensation insurance for all workmen employed. Before the work is commenced on this Contract, a conference shall be held for the purpose of discussing scheduling and compliance of the Contract. The conference shall be attended by officials and representatives of Drainage Districts 10 and 12, the Prime Contractor and all Subcontractors, if any Before final payment is made, the Contractor shall furnish lien waivers showing that all subcontractors and workmen, and all persons furnishing materials, have been fully paid for such materials and labor, and that Drainage District 10 and 12 may retain the last month's payment for a period of ninety (90) days following such completion and Project acceptance by the Trustees of Drainage Districts 10 and 12, unless satisfied that material, men and laborers have been paid.
