The City of Emporia, Virginia (City) is soliciting sealed bids for the disposal of municipal solid waste in a designated and permitted landfill for a two-year contract period beginning February 1, 2023. The City of Emporia, Virginia intends to enter into a two-year contract with a designated and permitted landfill. Bids must be made in accordance with the instructions and specifications contained within this Invitation to Bid. An award, if made, will be made to the successful bidder whose proposal is most advantageous for the City of Emporia, Virginia. The City of Emporia delivers approximately 3,500 tons of solid waste (trash and street sweepings) on an annual basis. The City of Emporia collects and transports solid waste from city residences and businesses. Solid waste is transported on Monday-Friday. The city will continue to directly operate residential and commercial solid waste collection services and is not part of this Invitation to Bid. The City is requesting bids for: The price per ton for the disposal of municipal solid waste in a designated and permitted landfill. At a minimum, each proposal must include: Documentation that the proposer has the necessary qualifications, licenses, permits, insurance, and experience to dispose solid waste in the State of Virginia. The landfill identified shall comply with all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and regulations, including the rules, regulations, and guidelines of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). AGREEMENT The City of Emporia expects to sign a contract, with the successful bidder, for a period of two years, with three additional one-year contract extensions at the City's option. Services between the City of Emporia and the successful bidder will be written and signed prior to services being rendered.
