GENERAL: a) This specification describes the minimum material and quality requirements for contractor supplied materials, personnel, supervision and equipment for applying Micro Surfacing Existing Asphalt Pavements on various County road projects. b) The Contractor's operations shall result in an acceptably safe and smooth highway surface course using a blend of materials meeting the requirements more specified herein. 2. DESCRIPTION: a) The micro-surfacing surface shall consist of a mixture of polymer modified asphalt emulsion, mineral aggregate, mineral filler, additives and water; and it shall be properly proportioned, mixed and spread on an existing surface in accordance with plans, specifications, and as ordered by the Owner. Work and materials shall conform to the applicable requirements of NYSDOT Section 413. b) Suggested Application and Rate: i.) Type II -Urban and Residential Streets: (20-30 lbs. per sq yd) ii.) Type III-Primary and Interstate Routes: (30-40 lbs. per sq yd) iii.) Wheel Ruts: Application rates as required.
