The project on which bids are requested consists of supplying parts to support the oil circuit breaker replacements at Mortensen Road Substation, new breaker installations at Ontario Road Substation, and to provide system spares. Parts to be delivered to three (3) locations within the city of Ames including the City of Ames Electric Distribution Facility located at 2208 Edison Street, Mortensen Road Substation at 3040 Mortensen Road, and Ontario Road Substation at 826 Delaware Avenue. All bids shall be submitted to the Ames City Clerk on or before the time set herein for the bid opening. Bids shall be made on the Bid Form furnished in this invitation to bid by the City of Ames, in a sealed and plainly marked envelope indicating it is a bid in response to this notice.The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. The City of Ames, Iowa has imposed a one-percent local option sales tax. Each bidder is responsible for determining how these taxes may affect the bid submitted for this project. Questions concerning application of the one-percent local option sales tax and the 1% tax for local schools should be addressed to the Iowa Department of Revenue, Hoover State Office Building, Des Moines, Iowa 50319. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provision grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
