Site work and renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Asheville, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

Description of the Project: The City of Asheville has design development level documents for the installation of a butterfly exhibit at the Nature Center (75 Gashes Creek Road, Asheville, NC). With the existing design development drawings as a basis for this project, we would like to build upon these ideas and add to them to make a complete project to include Adding a new 800 sq ft gift shop to an existing structure. Upgrades in and around the barn area, to include: 1.) new siding and repainting of the southwest barn facade, 2.) New partition and riser removal to allow for relocation of hay storage 3.) Asbestos boiler remediation 4.) structural determination for basement area New butterfly exhibit (roughly 2,700 sq feet) to include 1.) two play features demonstrating elements of the butterfly life cycle 2.) native plantings, 3.) native planting meadow. 4.) live butterfly display. This will include removal of existing asphalt/concrete, new pathways and irrigation. Renovate the Domestic Farm Area (donkey and goat & sheep exhibit) (5,200sf) to include fence repurposing/ relocation, new fencing, re-route electric and water relocation for water bowls Remove existing 1940's elephant care building and potential retaining walls. Event & Activity Lawn to include flat work, lighting, and drainage. Open Guest Plaza to increase in after-hours event space for rental opportunities Additional work to include evaluation and replacement of existing retaining wall that holds up the butterfly garden area.
