Renovation of a mixed-use development in Portland, Oregon. Completed plans call for the renovation of a recreation facility; and office development.
Metro is inviting bids to renovate, or refresh, the Administration Building at the Oregon Zoo. All bids must be clearly and distinctly typed or written with ink or indelible pencil. All blank spaces must be completed. No erasures are permitted. Mistakes must be crossed out and corrections typewritten or written in ink adjacent thereto and initialed in ink by the party signing the Bid, or their authorized representative. Written amounts shall be shown in both words and figures. Words shall govern in cases of discrepancy between the amounts stated in words and the amounts stated in figures. All bids must be on the form furnished by Metro or they may be rejected by Metro. Where plans and specifications are attached to the bid, the Bidder must return them with the bid response. The successful bidder must provide qualified professional staff experienced in the planning, estimating, scheduling, and constructing of a commercial office facility. The firm will work closely with Metro's Project Manager and an interdisciplinary design consulting team administered by Oh Planning + Design. The Oregon Zoo, one of the services of Metro, is a community treasure. It is the oldest zoo in the Pacific Northwest and continues to be the number one admission-based attraction in Oregon. The Oregon Zoo is well known for its success in protecting threatened and endangered species and providing generations of families with unique hands-on learning and recreational experiences. The Oregon Zoo consistently attracts more than 1.5 million visitors per year. The Administration Building holds many key functions. It is home to the Zoo's: executive team, marketing, communication, and inclusion department, the education program leads and the volunteer center. It is also the headquarters for our partner, The Oregon Zoo Foundation. The building as it stands today was constructed in 1986. Over-time the upper level has been compartmentalized to accommodate evolving needs. This renovation "refresh" is intended to create a universal space inviting for all Zoo, Metro staff, and invited members of the public. Improvements also address ADA barriers identified in a prior assessment and a new staff break room will be added. As the Zoo looks to future campus improvements there fresh Administration Building will accommodate displaced staff for periods of transition. The Scope of Work is further described in the Drawings and Specification, included as Attachments A and B respectively. Metro intends to award the contractto asingle firm. The term of the contractis anticipated tobe March2023 through July 2023.
