The estimated cost is $85,000. Experienced Vendors are invited to provide proposals for the design, provision, and installation of play equipment at the Green Strip Park located at 400 Main St. Loop, Kenai, AK 99611. Budget for the completed project is $85,000 and covers all anticipated costs for the work including design, equipment delivery and installation. Play system design shall safely fit in the playground areas as shown on the attached site plans. Vendors are encouraged to be creative in their designs to maximize the role of unstructured play in their proposals. Vendors may submit proposals from nontraditional type playground structures, if desired, in whole or as components of the overall playground design. Vendors should base their playground equipment designs on meeting all accessibility and safety standards as well as the guidelines and specifications listed within this PQR. Quality of equipment components, quality of design, play value, cost, and appropriateness to location and target demographic must be taken into consideration in the design of the play system. This Proposal Quote Request (PQR) is intended to provide potential Vendors with information regarding the services/materials being sought which are estimated to cost less than $100,000. Vendor shall provide a list of all proposed components for the Green Strip Park within their proposal. Specific model numbers, materials, color choices, recommendations, protective area requirements, target age ranges and developmental levels, target play type of activity, estimated life span of equipment including manufacturer's warranty and any other relevant descriptive information. The City prefers engineered mulch products for fall protection, but may consider alternatives with Vendor's recommendation. The City of Kenai is requesting a suitable play structure designed for children ages 5-12 and shall include at least one large climbing structure with multiple entry-exit points and at least one slide component. City staff is handling the demolition and removal of the existing play equipment in the area that has reached the end of its useful life. This will also include the removal of existing playground sand. Existing play area was roughly 30'x40', 1200sf it total. Vendor may exercise their best judgement in appropriate play area dimensions. The site plans below indicate a generous area available, within the constraints of the proposed budget. The site has good access for workers and equipment off main street loop. Restroom facilities are adjacent to the work area, with water and power available as well. The City has dumpster trash facilities available, contractor may have to drive a short distance, less than a mile, to reach them. Any excavation spoils created with this work may also be disposed of on city designated property less than two miles from project location. The City is not requiring construction permits for this work. Payment and Performance Bonds are not being required due to the less than $100K budget. The City does have temporary storage facilities available to accommodate delivery of playground equipment ahead of installers. Delivery arrangements will be made and confirmed with the successful proposer at the appropriate time.
