Prequalification questionnaires will be accepted from prospective design build teams that include a: 1) General Building (B) contractor; 2) Warm Air-Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning (C20) contractor; and 3) a design firm (mechanical engineer) that have completed comparably sized design build projects as described in the questionnaire. Contractors may elect to self-perform the Warm-Air Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning Contractors trade work if they possess a current and active C-20 California Contractors State License. DESCRIPTION: The project will replace air-handling units in up to eight buildings and a chiller at the Central Plant. The base bid scope of work includes replacing 12 air handlers across the following six buildings: Aldrich Hall (2), Bonney Center (1), Gateway Study Center (3), Humanities Instructional Building (1), Social Science Hall (1), and Social Sciences Tower (4). The base scope of work will replace air handlers in their entirety including coils, fans, controls, piping, and other appurtenances for fully operational central air handling systems. Asbestos abatement is anticipated due to the age of many of the air handlers and pipe insulation. The base scope of work also includes replacement of Chiller 5 at Central Plant. Chiller 5 is a 2,500 ton electric chiller installed in 1998. Bid alternates include replacing air handlers at Engineering Gateway (2), and the Rockwell Engineering Center air handlers (2) and roof.
