The work involves completely dismantling the existing monumental granite front stair system, salvaging materials for reuse, construction of a new concrete supporting foundation and reassembly of the granite stair system. Sub Bid Category Masonry work Security deposits will be required in the form of a Bid Bond, certified check, or cashier's check, from a responsible bank, trust company, or insurance institution, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid price, payable to the Town of Amherst The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance bond and a payment bond, both in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract award, not later than ten (10) working days after the award notification. Bonds will be for one (1) year and shall be renewed annually at the Contractor's expense This contract shall be fully performed by the Contractor by July 31, 2023, unless extended pursuant to a provision for extension contained in the contract documents at the sole discretion of the Town, and not subject to assent by the Contractor, and subject to the availability and appropriation of funds. The time limits stated in the contract documents are of the essence of the contract.
