Accessible Pedestrian Signal Improvements Phase 2. Install APS pedestrian push buttons and pedestrian count down signals. Questions are due by 2/17/23. The work under this Contract includes but is not necessarily limited to furnishing all necessary labor, materials and equipment required to provide a complete, fully operational accessible pedestrian signal system or audible rapid rectangular flashing beacon system as specific herein and as shown on the plans: Retrofit existing rapid rectangular flashing beacon crosswalk systems with audible ADA push buttons and replace RRFB solar system batteries. Remove existing pedestrian signals and pedestrian push buttons unless otherwise noted on the plans. (Holes from removed equipment shall be plugged with black color plastic Neoprene grommets or caps). Install 16 pedestrian countdown signals with visors (LED). Pedestrian signals shall be mounted with new iron side mount or top mount hardware. Install ABA audible & vibro tactile pedestrian push buttons, signs and saddles. Pedestrian APS Push buttons within 10 of another button need to announce which street crossing is on as required by the MUTCD. Each programmable local hardware component (i.e. APS pedestrian push button) shall be initially programmed by the supplier based on information contained on the plans. Signal equipment must be installed per factory installation instructions. Pedestrian push buttons shall place a call at the controller when pushed on the appropriate phase. Intersection plans are approximate. Prior to the start of work the contractor shall verify plans in field. APS push buttons and countdown signal locations will be determined in the field and each location approved by the Engineer prior to installation. Engineering & Transportation Department to be notified 48 hours in advance of any work.
