The bid security shall be in the form of a certified check drawn on a bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or a bid bond written by a surety company licensed to do business in Louisiana, accompanied by appropriate power of attorney and in favor of Grambling State University. Performance and Payment Bonds shall be required on Public Works projects with an expected cost greater than $50,000. Performance and Payment Bonds, when required, shall be provided in an amount of 100% of the contract price. Grambling State University has secured funds for the purpose of renovating two (2) instructional Biology labs respectively located in the basement and 2nd floor of Carver Hall Science Building. The physical layout of these labs are functionally obsolete and unattractive. To promote greater interactivity between faculty and students, we are seeking to replace the traditional model design of aged equipment, lab benches and other furnishings with a new design, more attractive and modern appeal that helps to aid with the creative thinking conducive to learning. Biology Lab Scope of Work: o Remove four (4) rows of double lab benches and three (3) rows of double lab benches with drawers and cabinets below. Replace all with new/modern furnishings o Remove and replace all other lab benches o Remove and replace deep sinks at each end of row that tie into plumbing o Include one (1) ADA compliant lab bench as needed for each lab o Remove all chalk boards; o Remove and replace instructor's desk with a mobile instructor's desk o Remove and replace all wall mounted and free-standing storage cabinets o Keep water for all labs with hot water taps preferred o Remove and cap all gas lines, EXCPET in Rm 121 Restore the Gas Lines. o Replace existing lights w/new suspended LED fixtures (University will provide specs.) o Re-route and/or add electrical wiring to accommodate lab equipment needs o Paint all walls o Paint and/or refurbish all lab doors o Replace and/or resurface epoxy floors.
