Larz Anderson Roadway Improvements is a full-depth reconstruction of the Larz Anderson Roadway with drainage improvements, limited curbing, grade changes, and minimal pavement markings. Contractor Qualification Highway Division All final questions concerning the contract documents and the work contained therein must be submitted in writing to Brandon Gentile through email bgentile@brooklinema.gov, by March 17, 2023 Full-depth reconstruction of Larz Anderson Park roadway with fine grading, drainage improvements, grading changes, curb installation, minor pavement marking The work involved in the Larz Anderson Roadway Improvements project includes but is not necessarily limited to: - Full depth reconstruction of the Larz Anderson roadway from Newton Street to Avon Street including a new roadway base and 4" of new asphalt. - Minor layout and grading changes along the roadway. - Drainage improvements and implementation of grass swales intended to capture roadway runoff and discharge effectively. - Resurfacing and restriping of the two parking lots. Additional parking spots to be striped and added. - Installation of a small brick paver plaza in front of the Larz Auto Museum entrance. - Installation of curbing and sloped edging at various locations along the roadway. - Installation of a few wheelchair ramps for accessibility throughout the park. - The hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM Fridays. - The contractor will provide all required work zone and detour signs and barricades - During the reconstruction of the roadway, the Town and contractor will work with the auto museum to provide continued access while the roadway is under construction. - To minimize impacts to the park, the contractor will have a two week window to perform the full depth reconstruction of the roadway. The road will be approved for full shutdown throughout the entirety of this effort. - The add alternate work includes a mill & overlay of the roadway to the bottom entrance and behind the Larz Auto Museum as shown on the plans. Prior to the commencement of work at any/all locations specified under the Project, the Contractor shall submit to the Engineering and Transportation Division for approval temporary traffic control plans, including but not limited to temporary traffic accommodations for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. Temporary accommodations for all users shall include but not be limited to all necessary signage, traffic control devices, and temporary asphalt wheelchair ramps as needed. All temporary traffic plans and control devices must be in accordance with the latest Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Commissioner of Public Works reserves the right to either decrease the quantity or eliminate items of work in order to keep the project within the appropriation. The contract will be awarded to the bidder whose proposal is in the best interest of the Town of Brookline as determined by the Commissioner of Public Works. The contractor's attention is directed to the proposal page that states that all work must be completed on or before November 1, 2023. In case of suspension of work from any cause whatsoever, the Contractor shall be responsible for the project and shall take such precautions as may be necessary to prevent damage to the project or site.
