The selected Coating Inspector shall perform comprehensive interior and exterior inspections of the surface preparation and coating applications. The Coating Inspector shall verify the highest quality of coating work is being performed on the project so that maximum effective service life will be achieved. Inspections are to be timely and executed in a manner as to not to prevent unnecessary delays or rework by the contractor. The full-time presence of the Coating Inspector is not required on this project; however mandatory inspections are intended to cover all major aspects of the coating work which can affect quality of the work and the long term performance of the coating system. Mandatory inspections, performed at various key stages of the work, shall include pre-surface preparation inspection, post-surface preparation inspection, coating application inspection and post coating application inspection. The Coating Inspector shall prepare a thorough written report accompanied with photographic documentation of inspections. Reports and photographs shall be submitted in both paper copy and digital formats. Inspection reports are due no later than the day following the inspection and shall be submitted to City Construction Inspector. Documentation verifying that all dry film thickness gauges and other instruments requiring routine calibration have been factory calibrated or field calibrated within the prescribed time frames by the applicable equipment manufacturers shall be submitted to the City Construction Inspector.
