A site visit will be held on 18 April 2023 at 10:00AM CDT. See clause 52.236-27 Site Visit (Construction) for details and instructions. Bids are to be submitted via email only. The scope includes removal and replacement of parking lot pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, and repair of the natural stone retaining wall. Wall improvements include re-pointing the entire wall and removal and replacement of a section of wall that is failing. Project Location: Pea Ridge National Military Park, Garfield, Arkansas. The overlook is located off of Military Park Road on the north side of the Park. B. The Work consists of the following: 1. The Work includes Repair and reconstruction of the west overlook at Pea Ridge National Military Park. The scope includes removal and replacement of parking lot pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, and repair of the natural stone retaining wall. Wall improvements include re-pointing the entire wall and removal and replacement of a section of wall that is failing C. Project will be constructed under a single prime contract. Period of performance for completion of improvements is 75 working days (including 11 weather days). Work consists of the following: A. Stone masonry reconstruction and stabilization involving partial mortar repointing and mortar wash repairs to the stone walls of the West Overlook and planter beds. Built circa 1964, this historical stone and mortar retaining wall is approximately 300 feet long varying in height from +-2 feet minimum to +-8 feet maximum. The stone wall was constructed to resemble an Ashlar style stone pattern with random size stone units and inset mortar joints to give the appearance of a dry-laid wall. The following outlines the various work items to be completed for the wall and planters: a. Remove and reconstruct existing wall (including footing) from Sta. 2+32.66 to Sta. 2+62.66 (30 ft.) b. Raise the existing wall height by furnishing additional stone and mortar from Sta. 1+35 to 2+85 (150 ft.) c. Repoint approximately 75% of exposed wall surfaces (front face and back face) from Station 1+35 to 2+85 (150 ft.) The wall height through this section varies from 4'-0" minimum to 8'-1" maximum. d. Repoint exposed surfaces of planter boxes (2 total) e.
