As of January 23, 2025, an RFI was issued 1/15/25. The RFI is not intended to result in a contract award but is designed to allow for the collection of industry information that may be used in the development of procurement documents. With this RFI, KYTC, in partnership with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), seeks information and suggestions for the solicitation documents and procurement process related to delivery of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing (ORX) Section 2 project (the “Project”). Following the RFI, KYTC intends to issue procurement documents for Section 2 of I-69 ORX with the intention of construction to begin in 2027. More information at https://i69ohiorivercrossing.com/. I-69 ORX Section 2 is a bi-state project between Indiana and Kentucky and includes the new four-lane river crossing. Construction is expected to begin in 2027 and be complete by 2031. Both states are looking for opportunities to accelerate the timeline. I-69 ORX Section 2 will be supported by toll revenue supplemented by traditional federal and state dollars. A financial plan was developed in 2021 and will be updated annually until construction is complete. Pre-construction activities are expected to begin in 2025 and construction is expected to begin in 2027. Completing this project is a high priority for both states, and they continue to look for opportunities to accelerate its completion.
