Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Lake Zurich, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; water / sewer project; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

The work included will consist of Hot-Mix Asphalt removal (HMA), placement of HMA binder, HMA surface course, undercutting, class D patching, curb & gutter and sidewalk removal & replacement, drainage structure repair and installation, ADA compliance and other items. Concrete 9000' of curb removal and replacement 13,906 SF sidewalk removal and replacement ADA compliant sidewalk - Contractor shall have at least one 4' smart level on site during concrete framing and pouring operations to confirm ADA compliance. ADA sidewalk forms shall be inspected minimum 24 hours prior to concrete pour unless same day framing and pouring is authorized by the Resident Engineer Resurfacing: 4" mill, 2.25" N50 binder, 1.75" Mix D N50 surface. Boring reports (attached as Appendix B) indicate varying thickness of asphalt. It is the intent of this project to ensure a minimum 6" of asphalt exist throughout. Additional milling may be requested and paid for using the percent change of thickness adjustments per IDOT SSRB 440.07. Alternatively, areas with insufficient remaining asphalt shall be patched utilizing the appropriate patching items. Roadway base items were included based on thin asphalt bores- specifically B4. It is possible these bores do not reflect actual field conditions; however roadway items were included to cover any subbase work required. See typical section for Construction Sequencing. Note that asphalt will need to be paved in two passes resulting in one longitudinal centerline joint. Pavers must be able to pave a 19' wide pass and include auger extensions per IDOT requirements. Structure frames in pavement shall be steel plated prior to asphalt milling. Paid for using adjustment pay items.
