Renovation of an educational facility in Greenville, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The School District of Greenville County (SDGC) invites responsible firms to submit a SEALED BID for the following project at Sevier Middle School, located at 1000 Piedmont Park Road, Greenville, SC 29609. Sevier Middle School is a multi-story, precast- concrete panel, building completed in 2005. Currently, the building has deteriorated, exterior, sealant joints, at control joints, expansion joints, windows and other adjacent openings. The project will consist of the removal and replacement of deteriorate, exterior, sealant joints at control joints, expansion joints, doors, and window frames with new sealant and backer rods as recommended by the manufacturer. Window glass will receive wet seals around perimeter. The project includes two add alternates; No. 1: Pressure washing all precast concrete panels, brick/block walls and cleaning all exterior windows. No. 2: Applying a waterproofing coating on the exterior exposed concrete panels. This project is to be completed in accordance with all drawings, terms, conditions, and specifications contained or referenced in this solicitation. The specifications and scope of work were developed and approved by Wolf Trail Engineering and the staff of the District Facilities Department and are included in this solicitation and its referenced documents. For a complete detailed description of the work, project documents should be consulted. This solicitation does not commit the District to award a contract, to pay any costs incurred in the preparation of the response to this solicitation or to procure any goods or services. Questions or comments regarding this solicitation document or the process shall be forwarded, in writing, to Mr. Jeffrey Knotts, Director of Procurement, and Mrs. Tonya Stroud, Senior Buyer, 2 Space Drive, Taylors, South Carolina 29687. Email addresses are: jknotts@greenville.k12.sc.us and tstroud@greenville.k12.sc.us. Inquiries and comments shall be delivered to the Procurement Department no later than April 20, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. EDT. Verbal questions/comments shall not be addressed at any time. After the Inquiry Deadline, the District will issue an addendum to address any questions or changes. Any addenda will be posted on the Procurement Department website. Questions and comments received after the Inquiry Deadline will not be addressed. Project Documents Project Document, Specifications and Drawings for this solicitation can be found on the GCSD Procurement Department website as three (3) separate attachments. Project Schedule The contractor will adhere to a strict project schedule, which stipulates work will start no earlier than May 29, 2023, pending an award and issuance of purchase order, and will be completed no later than August 4, 2023 subject to adjustments as provided in the Contract documents. The successful contractor may work evenings and weekends with at least a 24-hour notice and approval from the Facilities Project Manager. After hours work must be coordinated for security guard assistance. Security guard cost will be handled by SDGC. 1. Existing Conditions: a. The building was constructed approximately 20 years ago. b. The building will be occupied by the maintenance staff that will be performing general maintenance. 2. Renovation/New Construction: a. The building expansion joints, the existing caulk and backer rod shall be removed. New backer rod and caulk shall be installed. The contractor shall use tape to provide a straight line as indicated in the specifications. The joints behind the gutters shall are not part of this project. b. The caulking around the windows, store fronts and exterior doors shall be replaced. Tape shall be used to maintain a straight line as indicated in the specifications. c. Wet seal around the exterior glass and window frame. Tape shall be used to maintain a straight line as indicated in the specifications. d. New flashing shall be installed under windows specified on detail drawings. e. The contractor shall verify the weeps in the window system is open. f. The contractor shall water test each window system to verify there are no leaks. If leaks occur, the contractor shall make the corrections required. g. General clean up and reseed any areas disturbed.
