The project is located in the Historic Valley Junction Business District in West Des Moines Iowa. The construction includes approximately 620 square yards (SY) of sidewalk and paver removal, 200 SY of pavement removal, 170 SY of 7 inch PCC pavement, 22 SY of 6 inch PCC pavement, 90 SY of sidewalk unit pavers with pavement base, 440 SY of 4 inch sidewalk pavement, 213 linear feet (LF) of PCC paver edge restraint, 50 LF of seat wall, 2 lump sum (LS) open air shelters, 5 each (EA) natural slab limestone benches, miscellaneous electrical, miscellaneous excavation and grading, sod restoration, 19 trees, landscape plantings, construction survey, temporary traffic control, and other associated work. Liquidated damages in the amount of Five Hundred dollars ($500.00) per day will be assessed for each day that the work remains uncompleted after the end of the contract period. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier's or certified check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid. If a bid bond is submitted, it must be on the form provided with the contract documents.
