The City is soliciting proposal packets from professional companies experienced and qualified to perform plan review services for building and fire permits for the City of La Mesa Fire Department. Interested and qualified companies who have demonstrated their ability at providing comparable services are invited to submit proposals. This request is for plan check services only and does not include inspections. The plan reviews will primarily consist of building and fire permits as directed by City staff. The term of the service would be for one year with four one-year options to renew and is contingent on approved funding. The City of La Mesa was incorporated in 1912, as a General Law, Council-Manager municipality. The City's approximate population size is 73,000. La Mesa is a full-service city. Due to the increase in development within the City there has been a subsequent increase in plan review submittals. Current City staff levels are unable to meet the expected turnaround requirements resulting in development delays. During the recent period of February 21, 2022 through February 21, 2023 there were 806 reviews and re-reviews completed.
