Through this Request for Pre-Qualification, the City of Merritt invites submissions from organizations that are experienced in the design and construction of municipal road bridges, in order to pre-qualify for participation in a 2nd-stage Request for Proposals for Design Services and Work for the Middlesboro Bridge Replacement Project. Key details for this Project are as follows: Place of the Work: the Middlesboro Bridge is located on the Coldwater River at Voght Street in Merritt, British Columbia. Design Parameters for new replacement bridge: Two-traffic lane bridge with one active transportation lane. Must meet all MOTI standards. Designed to meet a minimum flow rate of 533 m3/s on the Coldwater River. May be box girder or steel girder design. Timeline: Preference is for the new replacement bridge to be ready for public-use prior to December 31, 2024. Scope Includes: Bridge design and construction, including; demolition, removal and disposal of the existing bridge and old bridge abutment. Project Approach & Form of Contract: the Project will employ a Design-Build approach whereby a Design-Builder will be contracted using the CCDC14 Design-Build Stipulated Price Contract (as modified by Supplementary Conditions), to perform all Design Services and Work for the bridge replacement. The intent of this Request for Pre-Qualification is to pre-qualify up to three (3) organizations, for participation in the 2nd-stage Request for Proposals (RFP) process.
