The City of Sierra Vista is seeking quotes for the acquisition, labor, design fees and permitting to install electrical services and controls (low voltage wiring) to the proposed Polymer Unit at the Environmental Operations Park. The City of Sierra Vista Environmental Operations Park (EOP) utilizes a synthetic, condensed polymer to promote flocculation of solids in wastewater. This flocculation allows solids suspended in wastewater to then be separated, treated, and disposed of. Polymer is injected into the influent prior to progressing into the screw press, a machine that physically separates the solids in wastewater. In an attempt to reduce the amount of polymer utilized at the plant, the City has purchased a new polymer injection system that automatically adjusts the amount of polymer injected into the influent based influent flow rates. The City has also purchased and installed a shed housing so that the polymer unit can eventually be climate controlled, improving the efficiency of the polymer. This new polymer injection unit has a full load current rating of 21 amperes and the climate control will have a full load current rating of 13 amperes. The current polymer injection power circuit does not have the appropriate capacity to run the new polymer unit. There is nearby underground 480V, three phase power supply that appears to be a suitable tie in for the polymer unit power supply.
