The Cell 6 Development - Phase II Geosysnthetics Aggregates, and Piping Contract is comprised of development of the Cell 6 leachate trenches, leachate drainage layer, roads, and ditches of the Mackenzie Regional Waste Landfill. This section is not prescriptive, and the Contractor shall still be governed by the work described in the various Contract Documents, Specifications, and the Drawings. Survey requirements including but not limited to staking, layout, construction, and measurement for payment will be the responsibility of the Contractor. The Phase II Geosysnthetics Aggregates, and Piping scope of work includes: Coordination with Phase I Earthworks Contractor on compacted clay liner finished grade acceptance with Geosynthetics Installer. Supply and installation of the double-sided HDPE geomembrane on side slopes, and smooth HDPE geomembrane on the base of the cell including all tie-ins to Cell and anchor trenching. Supply and installation of geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) in the leachate collection trenches. Supply, loading, hauling and installation of 300 mm thick sand protection layer over the base of the cell. Supply, loading, hauling and installation of 300 mm thick granular drainage layer over the granular protection layer. Supply and installation of non-woven protection geotextile over the HDPE geomembrane in the cell base. Supply and installation of non-woven separation geotextile over the granular drainage layer including anchor trenching. Supply and installation of perforated and non-perforated leachate collection pipes, including geosynthetic clay liner (GCL), bedding sand, geotextile, geocomposite, and drainage rock in leachate trenches, as shown on the drawings. Exposing and connecting existing Cell 5 leachate collection pipes to Cell 6 leachate collection pipes. Removal of existing Cell 5 temporary berm. Removal of any waste encountered and relocating to Cell 5, away from Cell 6 construction area. Third-party leak detection testing to be completed by the Contractor. Regrading and recompacting the subgrade for access road and turn around area for Cell 6. Grading and compacting the access ramp. Supply, loading, hauling and installation of granular subbase for the Cell 6 access road, turnaround area and access ramp surfacing. Landscaping including supply and installation of topsoil layer placement and hydroseeding in ditches as shown on the Drawings. All associated works to meet the design intent of Cell 6.
