he Aurora Reservoir Treatment Train at the Binney WPF consists of a conventional treatment process with rapid mix, flocculation, sedimentation, and filtration. The flocculation and sedimentation basins for the Aurora Reservoir Treatment Train were constructed open to the atmosphere. With this exposure, water quality and treatment are subject to wide variations related to weather events. Weather events impact treatment operations with prolonged cold weather events locking up equipment and sun and warm weather contributing to the degraded water quality due to algae growth. Based on the 2012 Treatment System Master Plan, the lack of basin coverage was identified as a deficiency and as a required facility improvement.
