Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Denver, Colorado. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.

**As of August 9, 2023, the project was awarded to Denver Commercial Property Services. Awarded amount was not disclosed.** As of June 28 the project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established . Arapahoe County (the County) is seeking responses from qualified landscape contractors to work in cooperation with the Open Spaces Department's Open Spaces, Parks, and Trails Maintenance Operations Division on landscape improvements at Welch Park located at 9015 E Jewel Circle, Denver, CO 80231. The park is an existing 3.6-acre neighborhood park in the Four-Square Mile area of unincorporated Arapahoe County. Opened to the public in 2006, the park provides a soft surface loop walking trail, picnic shelter, and playground for the community. The project will include the demolition of 14 planting beds, approximately 8,000 square feet in total size and the replanting of the beds. Ideally, the County would like to have this project completed Fall 2023 but is open evaluate alternative project completion dates if proposed by the contractor. Question Deadline 06/01/2023 at 4:00 PM MT Questions are submitted online Yes Reference Number 0000320708 Contact Information Katie Schwindt 303-738-7871 kschwindt@arapahoegov.com Demolition of the planting beds will include but not be limited to o Removal of all mulch o Removal of all fabric o Removal of all plant material o Removal of all irrigation back to the lateral line or valve o Removal of planter bed edging o Contour some planting beds to new configurations as shown on the approved landscape plan. o Level out planting beds existing soil and any new turf areas created by bed re-configuration. o Add topsoil back to existing grade for planting beds and new turf areas. o Till top 6inches of the soil, mixing the new topsoil with existing soil. o Conduct a soil sample from 5 of the 14 beds, randomly selected and send to the lab for analysis. o Based on soil lab analysis provide any necessary macro or micronutrients as soil amendments in order to obtain proper plant growth. Live culture mycorrhiza shall be added to each planting hole during plant installation. o Dig in or trench in new drip irrigation lines, as needed, make sure all irrigation improvements will work with the existing irrigation system prior to installation. Collaborate and coordinate all irrigation work with the Open Spaces Turf and Irrigation Specialist o Fine grade planting bed and any new turf areas to existing grade. o Install the new steel edging on planting bed perimeter. Restoration Re-Planting shall consist of but not be limited to o Follow the landscape architect's landscape plan in plant layout. Plant the 890 plants consisting of trees, shrubs, perennials, and grasses in each bed as indicated on the approved landscape plan. Install approximately 80 square feet bluegrass turf sod in new turf areas as indicated on the landscape plan. o Any deviation from the approved landscape planting plan will need the written approval of the Project Manager. o Properly transplant/install the new plant material according to the planting details specified on page P 2.0 of the Welch Park Bid Set Plans in (Exhibit A). o Install irrigation from lateral lines, which will include drip emitters to all new plant material. Any requested deviation from this will require the written approval of the Turf and Irrigation Specialist and by the Project Manager. o Install Pioneer Soil's Brown wood mulch 3 inches deep, spread out uniformly in the planting bed or as specified in the planting specifications. Clean up the site consisting of but not limited to o Removal all plant containers, wire baskets, burlap, strings, flagging, etc. o Remove all old edging, old plant bed plant material, any rocks, soil clumps or other debris uncovered during the project or made during the project and dispose of properly. o Fill in any ruts or depressions created by equipment with clean topsoil and re-seed with a seed mix approved by the Turf and Irrigation Specialist and the Project Manager. o Fill in any ruts created in the crusher fines trail with like colored and textured crusher fines as approved by the Project Manager. Drag the crusher fines trail to level out damaged sections of trail. o Remove any safety fencing or other components used on site by the vendor/contractor and any subcontractors. Clean up the parking lot area of any trash or debris.
