The University of Ontario Institution of Technology is seeking is seeking proposals for the replacement of the concrete ramp and stair system and rework of the existing metal railing system located at the entrance of the Software and Informatics Research Building (SIRC). Water penetration around the existing railing insertion paints has caused the concrete to crack and fail, exposing the base of the railing posts in various locations. - Complete a thorough onsite review of the existing concrete ramp, stair, and railing system, taking the necessary on-site measurements prior to any demolition. - Site Supervisor must be qualified with a proven experience with concrete replacement projects and remain assigned to this project for the duration of construction. - Proponent and all their subtrades assigned to this project must attend weekly site/progress review meetings. - Replacement stairs, ramp, and railing must meet or exceed required structural reinforcement and AODA compliance requirements. - Existing metal and glass railing system must be reworked to allow for surface mounting upon reinstallation. - Provide set up, maintenance and removal of any safety fencing and safety signage, while maintaining accessible pedestrian traffic flow in and out of the building. - Remove existing inset glass and metal railing system and any necessary modifications required to surface mount the railing when reinstalled. - Remove and dispose offsite of existing concrete ramp, stairs, ramp walls and affected sidewalks. - Excavation work as required and offsite disposal of excavation remnants or soil. - Install a new reinforced concrete ramp, walls, stairs, and affected sidewalk, to match the existing system. - Reinstallation of the reworked, surface-mounted railing. - Corrective landscaping work to match existing aesthetic.
