In 2018, the City retained the services of an architectural firm to study the existing Police Station conditions and review the current and future operations of the department. The study showed the need to undertake repair and replacement projects as well as add 22,809 square feet to the existing station to meet the current and future needs of the Police Department. This included making the building ADA accessible, safety/security/technology improvements, replacing HVAC systems, replacing/adding training facility spaces, building structure repair and creating workflow efficiency improvements. The City has engaged an architect to develop conceptual massings and budgets for a new police station. The anticipated budget for a new police station at the current site is approximately $46 million. An additional $2.0 million is included for relocation costs during construction. This project is included in the current FY25-29 Capital Improvement Plan for the city. As of March 18, 2025, project is still undergoing review as to the details of either renovating or replacing the station. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
