Logan is located approximately 90 miles north of Salt Lake City and is the 12th largest city in Utah by population. Logan City Light & Power is a municipal electric utility that serves approximately 20,000 residential meters, 2000 commercial meters, nine (9) industrial customers, and one (1) large industrial with a 46 KV delivery, Utah State University. Logan has a peak summer load of 101.3 MW and annual MWh sales are over 435,000 with about $36 million in electric revenues. The electric utility was established in 1888. Residential meters were installed on homes in 1926. Today Logan has approximately 200 miles of distribution lines with 10 substations serving about a 19 square mile territory. Logan offers competitive electric rates, reliable operation and superior customer service. The utility had an 8% electric rate increase in 2011 and has implemented electrical surcharges because of contractual and market conditions in 2022 and 2023.
