Site work and new construction of a pre-engineered storage facility in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a pre-engineered storage facility; and for site work for a pre-engineered storage facility.
The Department of Public Works is in need of an additional storage facility. This would be proposed as a prefabricated steel building with a concrete floor to house trucks, equipment and department supplies. Current estimate for this type of building is around $220 per square foot and would include the building, foundation and basic electrical/ fire safety. Currently we have vehicles and equipment that remain outdoors all year long through all weather conditions which does not help in the longevity of our assets. Approximate square feet desired would be 9500. This is comparable to the heated storage which is presently attached to the rear of the Public Works Facility. This project is included in the Town of North Kingstown's FY 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of February 15, 2024, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available. Funding is anticipated in 2025/2026.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
