The City of Fredericksburg's Shop and Garage building in the Fredericksburg Battlefield Industrial Park houses many Public Works functions, including traffic engineering, street maintenance, drainage, street lights, snow removal, street sanitation, refuse and recycling collection, and urban forestry. Electrical panel replacement: The panels are obsolete and are no longer manufactured. A replacement for the main breaker will require weeks to find a replacement. It is recommended to replace and upgrade the electrical panels in this facility in FY 2025. HVAC Replacement: The City Shop complex’s main building HVAC unit is nearing the end of its useful service life and replacement is recommended. Restrooms Renovation: The City Shop main building’s restrooms are in need of a full renovation replacement; these upgrades will maintain ADA compliance and address cosmetic needs. The project is in the FY2026-2030 Capital Improvement Plan. As of September 9, 2025, project is funded for construction in FY2025 for Electrical Panel Replacement, FY2026 for Restroom Renovations, FY2027 for HVAC replacements. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
