New construction of a fire / police facility in Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Completed plans call for the construction of a 12,609-square-foot fire / police facility.
This project is being let using the single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 5 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts with the successful MEP bidders. If a project does not include any mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or fire protection divisions of work, DFD will bid one bid package for all work to general prime contractors. In General: This project work consists of replacing the existing Ranger Station at its current location. The new station will replace the existing DNR office at the property. The new fire response facility will include office space for 8 FTE employees and 4 LTE employees. In addition. 5 it will include a heated approximately 5-bay drive-thru garage for one Type 6 engine, two Type 8 engines, 6 and three Type 4 engines with attached trailer that carry 2 tractor/plow units and one low ground unit. The heated area will contain workspace for woodworking/small projects and fire cache. The fire response facility will also contain an unheated 1-bay drive-thru garage for storage of one forestry light trucks, mobile 9 fire cache trailer, and Conservation Warden light truck. Additional storage space within the unheated drive thru will be included. As of June 4, 2025, construction is anticipated to begin in June 15, 2025.
