As of May 22, 2025, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the final planning phase. A firm timeline for start of construction has not been determined. The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (CRPD) is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms for professional design services for the Big Walnut Trail, from Winchester Pike to Nafzger Park. This 2.5 mile project will extend the Big Walnut Trail from its current terminus at Winchester Pike to Helsel Park, the Blacklick Estates community, the Eastland community, Refugee Road, S. Hamilton Road, and ending at Nafzger Park. Responding consultant teams shall be capable of demonstrating excellence in public engagement, civil engineering, and sustainable, cost-effective design and project delivery. The MBE/WBE contract specific goal is: 20% Deadline to submit Questions Jun 12th 2023, 5:00 PM EDT
