Vernon County, Wisconsin, plans to construct a new Emergency Management Storage Facility that will replace the current storage facility for the County's emergency response vehicles and equipment. The current facility is located in the former County Highway Shop, which has an accepted offer to purchase and an anticipated closing date in the fall of 2023. A location for the new facility has been selected. A preliminary space needs analysis has indicated an anticipated facility size of approximately 7,636 square feet. A summary of facility needs is outlined below: o Heated facility o 100' x 65' storage facility o 50' x 30' FEMA P-361 compliant safe room (masonry or comparable material) o Reinforced concrete floor with drains o Vehicles to be parked in the facility range from 8,000 lbs. to 17,000 lbs. o Exhaust fans o Air-conditioned conference room for trainings/meetings o Two handicap accessible restrooms with toilet, sink, and shower in each (in the safe room) o Emergency back-up generator o To power the safe room (HVAC, lights, and outlets) o To power the storage facility (HVAC, doors, outlets, and lights) o Hot modified asphalt parking area The County has performed a space needs assessment, a site analysis, and has developed a conceptual schematic design (see attachments). Upon completion of the final design, the Construction Manager will be engaged in overseeing the bidding phase and providing construction management services throughout the building phase.
