The primary objective of this project is to conduct a comprehensive irrigation experiment aimed at evaluating and analyzing the influence of various irrigation systems on the growth and yield of multiple crops. Specifically, the study will focus on alfalfa, which is a widely cultivated forage crop, as well as cool-season crops like wheat and lettuce, and hot-season crops such as field corn, cantaloupe, or watermelon. To achieve this objective, a range of irrigation systems will be carefully examined and compared. These systems include center pivot, flood, pressurized drip, gravity drip, and potentially water gun. Each irrigation method will be installed and monitored throughout the experiment to assess its effectiveness and impact on crop growth and productivity. This Request for Bids is for a center pivot system that not only meets the basic requirements but also offers comprehensive variable rate capabilities at each hose. We expect the system to have the ability to precisely control and adjust the application rates of inputs, such as water, fertilizers, or chemicals, at different points along the pivot.
