Renovation of a mixed-use development in Tucson, Arizona. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 5,000-square-foot educational facility.
The proposed scope of work includes design, construction management, and construction services. Pre-Construction Phase services will include complete design services; constructability reviews; building systems review and recommendations; construction scheduling; cost estimating; value engineering; recommendations for efficient project delivery; and preparation of a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). It is intended that, after mutual agreement on the GMP, the agreement will be amended to include complete Construction and Warranty Phase services. The project will renovate a portion (approx. 5,000 SF) of the wet research lab suite in the north wing of the fourth floor of the Cancer Center The project will renovate a portion (approx. 5,000 SF) of the wet research lab suite in the north wing of the fourth floor of the Cancer Center. Project Goals and Objectives The primary goal for updating the research environment is to open and modernize the laboratory space in order to encourage interactive and collaborative opportunities. Another goal is to increase shared lab support spaces. Facility Programacility Program In 2021, Sears Gerbo Architecture prepared a feasibility study for these proposed lab renovations. A copy of the study is the final section of the Appendix in this RFQ. The proposed program for the project covered by this RFQ would be the labs spaces on one side of the wing, along with a center core of lab support spaces. Additional scope items could be included if the project funding supports the costs. Site Description Guidance for the planning and design of Arizona Cancer Center 4th Floor Renovations will be provided by The University of Arizona Comprehensive Campus Plan, adopted by the Arizona Board of Regents in June 2009. Briefly stated, the goal of the Plan is to "provide the best environment for teaching, research, and service to the State of Arizona".
