Site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Punta Gorda, Florida. Completed plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
As of April 16, 2024, this project has been awarded. Construction is expected to begin May 1, 2024. The project will replace the existing 100,000-gallon elevated storage tank (EST) with the installation of a new 500,000-gallon ground storage tank (GST) equipped with a booster pump station (BST) to meet the rising demands and pressure requirements of the CHWA service area. The pump building will be equipped with variable frequency driven (VFD) pumps and a backup diesel generator with automatic transfer switch (ATS) for emergency use. Improvements for this project include but are not limited to the following; installing a hypochlorite/ammonia sulfate disinfection system, constructing a stormwater treatment area to retain the additional runoff discharge, implementing landscaping buffers and preserving natural vegetation in the area to minimalize impervious area of the proposed site, elevating essential facilities to remain operational in the event of extreme loading from flooding. Project Work will also include the demolition of the existing Elevated Storage Tank once the GST and BST have reached substantial completion. The project shall include the construction of a 10" WM extending from project site to Melbourne Street to Shady Lane and 6" WM extending from Existing EST to Homewood Street.
