The City of Abbotsford (the City) is issuing a Notice of Planned Procurement to advise potential Suppliers that the City plans to conduct a procurement process seeking Proponents with expertise acting as a General Contractor for a facility heat recovery and optimization project at the Abbotsford Recreation Center located at 2499 McMillan Rd, Abbotsford, BC. The overall project consists of installation of localized heat recovery systems to capture wasted heat from the aquatic centre and ice plant and integration of aquatic centre, ice arena, and community recreation centre heating and cooling systems to utilize the recovered heat. Due to the technical complexities of the project and necessity to minimize operational impacts to the facility during construction, the City is pursing early engagement with the construction Contractor. The City is seeking to retain the Construction contractor to provide input on constructability, operational impacts during construction, and cost implications of design decision during the detailed design.The City is seeking a Contractor who can provide: An intricate understanding of mechanical systems and controls necessary for an effective heat recovery system, Prime contractor responsibilities for overall site safety, acquisition and coordination of subcontractors, and communication to the Consultant and Project Manager.
