This project funds the reconstruction of NYS Route 110 as a multimodal transportation corridor. The project will be aided by Federal and State funding and will be used to implement a premium transit service to improve north-south mobility, promote increased transit use, and improve quality of life in Suffolk County. Specifically, funds will be used for project development (preliminary design), environmental analysis, final design, and construction of roadway and traffic signal modifications to support a BRT route along the corridor. The project area extends from the Amityville LIRR Station to the Huntington LIRR Station, stopping at major destinations along the corridor including the proposed Republic 110 LIRR Station, Farmingdale State College and the Huntington Quadrangle. Project elements may include dedicated bus or shared use lanes, queue jumps and traffic signal priority at key intersections, and enhanced stations, as well as other capacity improvement measures. This project is in the Final Design phase. As of August 19, 2024, this project is included in the Suffolk County's FY 2025-2027 CIP. Information regarding a design team and the contractor selection has not been disclosed.
