As of February 20, 2024, per owner, they did not move forward with this project due to budgetary constraints. The City of Elgin is in the process of converting all of its athletic field lighting infrastructure to light emitting diode (LED) technology. The intent of this request for proposal is to solicit a firm that can provide a solution to the city by way of full program oversight including procurement of both material and labor; inventory and audit of infrastructure; apply for and obtain approval for energy provider incentive monies, provide cost and energy saving estimates and manage construction necessary to carry out the objective of the project. The City of Elgin through its Department of Parks & Recreation, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin, Illinois 60120, is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide professional services required for the development, design, procurement and management services necessary for the LED conversion of all the City owned Athletic fields as outlined herein. The Project is intended to improve the quality and reliability of Elgin's athletic field lighting and thereby enhance public safety and quality of life for Elgin's residents and visitors. The Project is designed to be a modernization of the City's athletic field lighting system, made possible by leveraging future energy cost savings resulting from a large-scale conversion of the City's existing lighting system to LED technology. In addition to the installation of LED lights, the Project will take an initial look at the installation of a networked lighting management system. This Project also presents an opportunity for Elgin to leverage the light grid as a platform for connected technologies.
