Renovation of a mixed-use development in Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility; service station / car wash facility; and warehouse / distribution facility.
The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to: A new Grounds Maintenance Facility including: Garage Facilities to provide cover for maintenance vehicles Office Space Breakroom / Lunchroom facility Locker Room / Rest Room Facilities Storage for hand tools and equipment Storage for treatment chemicals including containment provisions, wash sink and eyewash station Wash bay for vehicles Fencing Enclosure of Storage Grounds Covered storage for deicing salt and sand stockpiles Stockpiles for Planting Soils Stockpiles for Planting Mulch Space for storage of equipment not requiring cover protection Water facility for filling irrigation trucks and water storage trailers Multiple Yard Hydrants The Proposal shall be made out on a preprinted form furnished by the Board and must be accompanied in a separate envelope by a Bid Bond or other security (bid security) permitted by statute. The amount of the bid security shall be ten percent (10%) of the bid submitted by the bidder. The bid security shall be made payable to the Board. The bid security must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. The bid security shall be forfeited to the Board as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a Contract within ten (10) days after the award of Contract and post bond satisfactory to the Board. The Contractor's Bond shall be in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Board, guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, protect and save harmless the Board from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the Contractor, guarantee materials and workmanship to be free of defects for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the Board, guarantee surface restoration work in public right-of-way to be free of defects for a period of four (4) years from and after completion and acceptance by the Board, and shall otherwise in all respects comply with the Code of Iowa. The Notice to Proceed will be issued after the Contract is signed and the Contract, the Contractor's Bond, and the insurance certificates required by the Contract are received by the Board. Work shall begin within ten (10) calendar days after the date set forth in the written Notice to Proceed. The improvements shall be completed within four hundred fifty-five (455) consecutive calendar days from the date set forth in the Notice to Proceed. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in any bid.
