Reference Number AB-2023-04599 Shaughnessy is a hamlet in southern Alberta, in Lethbridge County. It is located on Highway 25, approximately 17 kilometres north of Lethbridge. Lethbridge County is seeking a turn-key solution to desludge Cells 1, 2 and 3 at the Hamlet’s sewage treatment lagoons. The contract for services will include sludge extraction, transportation, and either: 1.Land application by injection into suitable agricultural and/or other regulatory-approved lands, or, 2.Disposal at a landfill permitted to receive sewage sludge and that meets the disposal requirements of thatfacility, or 3.Another approved disposal method, as approved by the County and acceptable to AEP. For the first option, the proponent is responsible to identify lands for application and will apply the sludge in strict accordance with provincial and federal regulations. For option two, the Proponent is responsible for working with the chosen landfill facility to establish the requirements and acceptance of sludge disposal. For option three, the Proponent is responsible to present the alternative disposal means and methodology, including any permits required for the alternative approach. The expected volume of biosolids/sludge for this project ranges from 3,880 to 6,835 cubic metres (in-situ), located in four (4) separate lagoon cells.
